Hunter syndrome is a genetic disorder that should be evenly distributed across the male population. Shire asked us to find patients where they couldn’t.
Hunter syndrome is an extremely rare genetic disorder, affecting 1 in 160,000 boys. It’s difficult to diagnose, and certain regions of the country seemed to be missing patients.
Language barrier, lifestyle, rates of health insurance, and residency status must be affecting rates of diagnosis.
We appealed to moms, encouraging them to take a closer look at their sons and ask this simple question: “Is he falling behind?”
